Whether you would like to spend a peaceful day or a more active one, you will most likely find the right activity in Cessens.

Some of the activities you can enjoy in Cessens

  • Picnic with family or friends

Cessens, especially the Sapenay area, is the perfect spot for a relaxing day. The wide spaces are great for all kind of recreational activities such as petanque (a typical French bowling game), ball games or racket games. Kids will love running in the meadows, playing in the trees or just watching the cows, and can do so safely, without being bothered by taffic. Whatever activity you chose, we do ask you to respect the surrounding nature – please do not damage the grass during hayseason, do park in parking lots and do not leave your waste behind.

Picnic tables are available at “Chateau Barthelier”, close to the hang-gliding site (parking “Delta”) and at the Sapenay pass (parking “Col du Sapenay”).

  • Hiking, cycling, driving, motor-biking

You should definitely include the Col du Sapenay to your driving tour. The countryside winding road offers spectacular views over the Lac du Bourget, the Chautagne area, the Albanais area and over the surrounding mountains.

If you are looking for something more sporty, many paths are open to mountain biking.

And if you have time, we suggest that you wander through the many hiking paths and discover Cessens in a more authentic way. Some of the trails are marked and will lead you to beautiful viewpoints – if the weather is good, you may even see the Mont-Blanc mountain. Other trails, not marked, will take you through the different parts of the village and let you have a glimpse of the French rural way of life.

  • Free-Flight activities

Le Sapenay is a famous free-flight spot, where pilots can enjoy a great scenery above the Lac du Bourget, the Chautagne area and the surrounding mountains.

And what about you try paragliding or hang-gliding?

  • Rock climbing

Several rock climbing sites have been opened on the cliffs of Cessens. From beginner to expert levels.
